Admission Requirements

To be admitted to the research postgraduate programme, all applicants should possess a relevant Bachelor’s degree with First or Second Class Honours from a recognized institution.

In addition, applicants whose degree programme was not taught in English must meet one of the following requirements:
1. A score of 6.0 or above in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS); or
2. At least 550 or above in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) for the paper-based test, at least 213 in the computer-based test, or at least 79 in the internet-based test.

Application Procedures
The procedure starts when you submit an initial application online at http://www.polyu.edu.hk/rowas

Applicants should also demonstrate in their application materials adequate knowledge and understanding of the subject matter.

At the time of application, the following documents should be mailed or faxed to us or submitted directly online at http://www.polyu.edu.hk/rowas within two weeks of the submission of the application or as soon as you have obtained your current-year awards or for assessment:

  • Certificate of the award of Bachelor’s degree/ Master’s degree;
  • Transcript of studies;
  • English language test result, if any;
  • A research degree proposal (form RDC/1A)
  • One copy of a major research paper (a term paper, research report, or thesis), which should demonstrate an applicant’s ability to pursue serious scholarly inquiry;
  • A copy of CV which clearly shows all academic and professional qualifications and work experience, if any;
  • Letter of recommendation from an academic referee at university level

The application fee is HK$ 150 (non-refundable)
